Merit Badge Program
The Merit Badge Program is designed to keep students motivated, confident, and goal-focused – supporting their martial arts journey while helping them grow into strong, capable individuals.
Earning & Displaying Badges
Once earned, merit badges are sewn onto the left sleeve of the uniform, starting at the shoulder and moving downward as additional badges are achieved.
Students must perform full splits on chairs with the assistance of a spotter.
Complete the following within 7 minutes:
- 50 jumping jacks
- 40 crunches
- 30 squats
- 30 push-ups
Student consistently follows dojo rules, including:
- Bowing in and out of the dojo
- Bowing to partners
- Proper uniform care (including tying their belt)
- Staying focused and attentive during class
Student begins taking on leadership responsibilities, such as:
- Assisting with warm-ups
- Helping junior students during training
Earned upon achieving Green Belt, a major milestone that reflects long-term dedication to training.
- Awarded to students who have successfully completed a First Aid and CPR course.
- Certification may be earned inside or outside of the dojo through an approved program.
- This badge recognizes a student’s commitment to safety, responsibility, and readiness to help others.
Kime refers to controlled, focused power.
Student must consistently demonstrate proper Kime in:

- Kihon (Basics)
- Kata (Forms)
Students consistently perform Kata with strong technique, focus, and precision.
Earned by completing a special weekend course covering the full Self-Defense and Anti-Bullying curriculum.
Upon completion, the student receives:
- A certificate
- The Silver Chevron badge
Earned upon successful completion of the Junior Leader Program, recognizing responsibility, maturity, and leadership skills.
