Junior Leadership Program
The Junior Leader Program (JLP) is designed to develop leadership, empathy, responsibility, professionalism, and coaching skills within our senior students.
Participants learn how to:
- Lead warm-ups
- Assist with teaching techniques
- Support junior students
- Communicate confidently and ethically
- Learn basic First Aid skills
- Develop professional coaching skills
This program prepares students for future leadership roles both inside and outside the dojo.

The Teen Troop is a great way to finish off your teenager’s kids martial arts journey. Sign them up as well help prepare them for adulthood!
To be accepted into the Junior Leader Program, students must:
- Be at least 7 years of age
- Be enrolled in an Advanced Level Class
- Have earned the Basic Leadership Badge
To successfully complete the Junior Leader Program, students must:
- Complete 50 hours of class assistance
- Successfully complete a CPR/First Aid Course at the dojo
- Teach three (3) classes under the supervision of a full instructor
- Complete a Coaching & Instruction Course at the dojo
Upon successful completion of the Junior Leader Program, students will receive:
- A Certificate of Completion
- A Black Chevron Leadership Badge
- Verified Volunteer Service Hours
- Eligibility for Employment Opportunities
Graduates who meet age and performance requirements may be invited to join our coaching team.
- Students aged 14 and older may be eligible for part-time Assistant Coach positions
- Positions are based on professionalism, reliability, and leadership ability
- Assistant Coaches receive ongoing mentorship and training
- Outstanding Assistant Coaches may progress to Full Coach roles over time
All volunteer and leadership hours completed through the JLP are officially tracked and verified by Silverback Martial Arts.
These verified service hours help students by:
- Strengthening school, college, and scholarship applications
- Meeting community service graduation requirements
- Building strong resumes and job applications
- Demonstrating responsibility, reliability, and leadership
- Providing real-world experience in teaching and mentoring
This gives students documented proof of their commitment and work ethic — a valuable advantage for future opportunities.
